Chakras are major energy centers in our body where prana (life force energy) is processed to become available for use. When life force energy flows freely through our major energy centers we feel physically well, mentally empowered and spiritually clear about our purpose in life. When energy becomes stagnant we may feel fatigued, stuck in unpleasant emotional patterns, or perhaps subtly aware that something just isn’t quite right. What causes energy blockages or stagnation? Any life event that leaves behind a residue or memory in the body. Some blockages release easily with subtle body energy work. Older or more traumatic experiences may take time to release, as their pattern has served to protect us and allowed us to reach this point of safety to heal slowly and gently.

When we use pranayama (breath work) and asana (postures) with an awareness of our chakra tendencies and higher potential our engagement with life force is amplified.
